National Diabetes Week 2011
This year, Diabetes UK's annual UK-wide awareness week runs from June 12th - 18th.
Nationally, Diabetes UK are hoping to raise £200,000 to expand their Careline, a vital service which provides practical information and emotional support to anyone affected by diabetes. They are holding various fundraising events and asking supporters to hold a Big Diabetes Quiz Week.
Locally, we have several events during Diabetes Week, which are as follows:
June 13th, 14th and 15th - stalls in the entrance of the George Eliot Hospital. We will have items for sale, including handcrafted items. If you are visiting the hospital, please stop by!
June 15th - Cookery demonstration by Gill Franklin, the groups Fundraiser and Press Officer, at the Chilvers Coton Heritage Centre, Avenue Road, Nuneaton, CV11 4LT, starting at 7.30pm. Gill will be demonstrating foods that can be found in the Diabetes UK cookery books, and there will an opportunity to sample the cooking at the end of the meeting.
